What is data engineering and what do data engineers do? Required knowledge and skills to be a data engineer. Data Engineering vs Data Science – what’s the difference?
Data Warehouse Concepts, Design and Data Integration
Theory and hands-on activities with data warehouse / data mart design to solve analytical business needs through querying OLAP cubes. Hands-on will be performed on both on-site and Cloud (AWS).
Building and Managing Data Lakes
Theory and hands-on related to creation of data lakes. Learn how data lake is a comprehensive solution to solve critical data management issues related to data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, storage, and querying.
Working with Structured Data, SQL and Relational Databases
Learn and Perfect your SQL Skills at both Basic and Advanced Level that helps you manage and optimize data schemas quickly and execute queries and generate reports more effectively and efficiently.
Working with NoSQL Databases
Theory and hands-on activities with data schema design for both relational databases and NoSQL databases (particularly Apache Cassandra and MongoDB).
Building ETL and Data Pipelines
Theory and hands-on related to building and deploying data/ETL pipelines. Learn how all data management activities can run autonomously in future through implementation of automated pipelines.
The capstone project will teach you how to lay a concrete foundation for implementation of data engineering in any organization. The project will last for one month and will be guided by FTI’s faculty.
Who is it for
Data science involves using the data to derive value or usable insights. Data engineering brings raw data into a format which is suitable for analytics. The analogy is equivalent to preparing the food (data engineering) versus eating it (data science). And so, over the next 24 weeks, master the art of ‘preparing the food’ that feed analytical hunger of corporations like Bank Alfalah, K-Electric, Foodpanda, and Unilever.
-Current University Students in 5th to 8th Semester pursuing CS / Engineering / Tech / Math Degree OR
-Fresh Graduates with UP TO 2 years of work experience with relevant academic background / professional experience OR
-Individuals looking to SWITCH their career to Data Engineering REGARDLESS of their academic background / professional experience
Basic knowledge of SQL / Python / Intro to Programming preferred but NOT required
Knowledge and preferable experience managing any one or more data management tasks
